If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, sex and/or relationship problems, trauma, or work-related issues, I am here to help you process these feelings and move to a better place. My counselling in Leckwith, Cardiff, and online is adapted to your specific situation, with you taking an active role in what we talk about and what techniques we use to help you reach a better place. You might feel a bit daunted about reaching out, which is normal, but my practice is a safe, strictly private space where you are free to speak as honestly about your issues as you like.

I primarily adopt a person-centered approach, which means I don’t tell you what to do, but rather encourage you to take an active role in the counselling process. Every person has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change, and my role is to help you work towards empowering yourself in a way that suits you. Sessions can be directed in any way you see fit. This is your time; I will always encourage you to pursue whatever thread of thought or emotion that comes into your mind.
Along with taking a person-centered approach, I draw from a number of different therapeutic techniques to ensure you receive a form of counselling that addresses the particular issues you’re facing. We will work together to understand what your problems are and the most effective way to deal with them. This could mean taking a brief solution-focused therapeutic approach, existential therapy, or humanistic therapy.
Along with offering counselling from my practice in Leckwith, Cardiff, I can also offer walk-and-talk eco-therapy, where we meet at a mutually convenient outdoor location, such as a park. Sometimes an office or a Zoom screen can feel stifling; it may prevent you from truly expressing how you feel. Being outside in nature is a less confrontational, more authentic way of speaking to another person, enabling you to feel more comfortable and speak freely.
I understand that confidentiality can be an issue when it comes to outdoor sessions, and I will take care to manage our conversation and ensure we aren’t overheard by others. We can either walk or sit on a bench, depending on what feels right for you. If the weather turns out to be poor, you have a two-hour window to switch to online or a session at my private practice. I can also offer home visits if needed.
For some people, the idea of speaking to a counsellor in person can be intimidating, especially if you are seeking therapy for the first time. You may also be unable to travel for a number of reasons. In which case, I offer confidential counselling over Zoom. This is a more flexible form of counselling that you can do from the comfort of your own home. Doing this takes off the pressure; you can be more like yourself and not feel overwhelmed by the foreign environment of a private practice.
